  1. hello tayaab ,could you help on the claims based authentication in CRM online 2011,how we can implement Active directory authentication in CRM 2011 online

    • Abhi,
      If you are migrating your customer from CRM on-premises to online then your best option is to replace each user with an email and password and then use that for authentication on CRM online. As per my information ADFS is still not available for Cloud and although MS did suggest last year that they will release it this year but i think it has not happened as yet. CRM 2011 online does not allow enabling of Claim based authentication. This is what i was conveyed when i tested on the Beta version however i am not aware of any changes on that. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you find something useful on this.

    • Hi Abhi,
      I do not know if you got it working but CRM 2011 online didnt support Active Directory authentication at that time. Now however i have heard as part of Nov 2011 release they are supporting Identity federation. PLease look into that if you have not. I have not explored it but i will soon and hopefully blog about it as well.

  2. Hi Tayyab,

    I am trying to access the 2007 endpoint of MS CRM Online (Trial Version now), from a 3,5 framework webapplication.

    I get a 401 unauthorized error.

    This is the code snippet , where i have the proxy for the 2007 endpoint.

    CredentialCache credential = new CredentialCache();
    NetworkCredential netCred = new NetworkCredential(“email@mail.com”, “password”); //Windows live id used to login to MS CRM online
    credential.Add(new Uri(“https://OrgName.crm5.dynamics.com/mscrmservices/2007/crmservice.asmx”), “NTLM”, netCred);

    CrmServiceRef.CrmAuthenticationToken token = new CrmServiceRef.CrmAuthenticationToken();
    token.OrganizationName = “1aff7162df064dec9dded680f2405c3e”;
    token.AuthenticationType = 0; //AD – there are other values for IFD and Crm
    //0 – AD
    //1 – Passport
    //2 – Form Authentication

    HttpWebRequest.Create(“https://OrgName.crm5.dynamics.com/mscrmservices/2007/crmservice.asmx”);
    CrmService service = new CrmService();
    service.CrmAuthenticationTokenValue = token;
    service.Url = “https://OrgName.crm5.dynamics.com/mscrmservices/2007/crmservice.asmx”;
    service.Credentials = credential;
    service.PreAuthenticate = true;

    Could you please suggest where i am going wrong. This piece of code used to work well with CRM 4.0 onpremise. Now we are to move it to online CRM.

    I have been stuck and helpless!
    Any help is very much appreciated!.

    Thanks in advance!

    • i will send you the code that you can use to connect to service. Are you hosting it on Azure or uploading inform of Silverlight control?

      • Thank you so much Tayyab, for your reply.

        I have an account in Online CRM ( Azure ). Right now its in trial period.
        Somehow from a 3.5 website , hosted on another strato server , i am unable to connect to the online CRM account using 2007 endpoint. The website takes in registrations, and this information should be updated onto the CRM.

        Thats what i am trying to do .

      • I am so sorry for not getting in touch. I have been crazy busy lately. Did you resolve your issue? please do let me know as i have some bandwidth this weekend.
